It takes a village

At Ronald McDonald House® South Central Ontario, we know that medical care is #1 - and our partner hospitals McMaster Children's Hospital - Hamilton Health Sciences, Marotta Family Hospital - Niagara Health, and Waterloo Regional Health Network @ Midtown are outstanding when it comes to clinical experience.

But a very close second is the emotional well-being of the whole family. Because when a child is sick, the stress, fatigue, and uncertainty ripples through everyone. That's where the village steps in.

We work alongside incredible non-clinical partners who help us wrap care around the whole family. Including,

• In-House summer camp that lets kids be kids and parents catch their breath,
• Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in the hospital that are stocked with meals & comforts for parents who can't bear to leave their child's side,
• Wellness spaces at our House, and;
• Special treatments and moments that matter in the community that remind caregivers they're not alone.

This is family-centered care in action, recognizing that families are as much a part of the care team as doctors and nurses, and that their well-being directly impacts a child's healing.
