Volunteers are the heart of our home

This past week, we had the privilege of celebrating the incredible contributions of our dedicated volunteers at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Lunch. With so many volunteers in attendance, the room was filled with warmth, camaraderie, and heartfelt gratitude. Volunteers enjoyed a delicious meal, shared stories, and reconnected with peers, all in celebration of their invaluable efforts at our House and Hospital Family Rooms.

A highlight of the afternoon was hearing from Vanessa Descamps & Kayleigh Kennedy, alumni moms who shared their powerful stories of resilience and hope. They spoke candidly about how the Ronald McDonald House and the Family Rooms provided a sanctuary during their most difficult times. Their words served as a poignant reminder of the vital role our volunteers play in creating a supportive environment for families facing unimaginable challenges.

CEO, Mario DeDivitiis, also addressed the group, offering heartfelt thanks and reflections on the profound impact of volunteerism. "Our volunteers are the heart of our mission," he shared. "Every act of kindness—whether big or small—makes a world of difference for families in their time of need." His words resonated deeply, reinforcing the connection between our volunteers and the mission they so passionately serve.

As a token of our appreciation, milestone pins were presented to signify hours of service, with some volunteers proudly receiving pins representing over 2,000 hours of commitment. These pins, worn on their lanyards, symbolize not only their time but also their dedication to the families we support. It was an afternoon of gratitude and celebration, shining a spotlight on the extraordinary people who help make our House a home.
